Audiobook。。。What I liked:-different ways of thinking about history-an alternate voice that is intelligent and thoughtful What I didn’t like:-doing voices for those on the other side of political ideology。。。does not enhance Shapiro’s points, and in many ways undermines them as it seems like he will mock those he disagrees with -some of the arguments were hard to follow as an audiobook and I ended not feeling the book unsure of what I thought

You're done, Cuckpiro。I have made the decision to not give this book a one star due to the stupidity this book gives。 Right from the beginning, I knew that this was going to be Shapiro essentially using his writing "skills" to make the attempt to brainwash people into his dangerous philosophy。 He whines about how Mario Lopez has a family and didn't deserve to be cancelled because "he has a family。"Lopez has a fucking net worth of $25 MILLION。 His family is just fine。Furthermore, Mr。 Cuckpiro, no You're done, Cuckpiro。I have made the decision to not give this book a one star due to the stupidity this book gives。 Right from the beginning, I knew that this was going to be Shapiro essentially using his writing "skills" to make the attempt to brainwash people into his dangerous philosophy。 He whines about how Mario Lopez has a family and didn't deserve to be cancelled because "he has a family。"Lopez has a fucking net worth of $25 MILLION。 His family is just fine。Furthermore, Mr。 Cuckpiro, nobody is trying to destroy American history, or in your disgusting words, "disintegrate" American history。 I don't think he realizes the amount of people who have been tossed aside by white idiots like Mr。 Cuckpiro。 Your little theory doesn't hold any water, Cuckpiro。 Most of the American people are tired of dicks like you who think that trans people aren't real people。 It's not just straight, white men who have contributed to history。It was Matthew Shepard。 It was George Floyd。It was Victoria Woodhull。If anyone is participating in revisionist history, it's you, Cuckpiro。 。。。more

Shapiro makes himself a very polarizing figure in political radio and entertainment, but this book tones down that presence a LOT, to where he's presenting facts and history, with opinion sparingly intermingled。This book is about unionist vs。 disintegrationist agenda, pros and cons of both, and what led to each school of thought's popularity。Conservative because yes, it is Ben Shapiro, non-party in what it ultimately teaches: how to destroy a union。It's divorce。 And both parties want flatware an Shapiro makes himself a very polarizing figure in political radio and entertainment, but this book tones down that presence a LOT, to where he's presenting facts and history, with opinion sparingly intermingled。This book is about unionist vs。 disintegrationist agenda, pros and cons of both, and what led to each school of thought's popularity。Conservative because yes, it is Ben Shapiro, non-party in what it ultimately teaches: how to destroy a union。It's divorce。 And both parties want flatware and the dog。Shapiro narrates on Audible。 Enjoyed his performance。 🌠🌠🌠🌠/5 。。。more

This book shook me to my core! How appropriate that I finished it on Memorial Day。 Thank you to all of my brothers and sisters in arms。 Thank you to the heroes I served with who didn’t get to come home to their families。 Ben Shapiro articulates the American dream and the intentions of the founders better than anyone I’ve ever heard。 He has a profound understanding of the cause and effect that ignited the culture wars America is struggling through at this very moment。 I don’t know what side will This book shook me to my core! A concise, digestable argument for modern conservatism in the context of American philosophy, culture, and history。 Shapiro outlines the growing conflict between Unionists — those proud of our nation's staggering acheivments and rich (though troubled) history — and the Disintegrationists — those who seek to dissolve the "mystic chords of memory" that tie is together as a nation。 A concise, digestable argument for modern conservatism in the context of American philosophy, culture, and history。 Shapiro outlines the growing conflict between Unionists — those proud of our nation's staggering acheivments and rich (though troubled) history — and the Disintegrationists — those who seek to dissolve the "mystic chords of memory" that tie is together as a nation。 。。。more

Shapiro creates sound, logical points, as he always does。 His writing style - carefully framed, factual and pointed- doesn't always make for exciting reading。There is the odd flash - a punchy turn of phrase - that reminds you of his synonymous radio show for the Daily Wire - but the first half of the book becomes bogged down with overly lengthy, exhausting phraseology。For anyone familiar with Shapiro, there won't be much new ground here。 It's a fine, restatement of his view on the current predic Shapiro creates sound, logical points, as he always does。 His writing style - carefully framed, factual and pointed- doesn't always make for exciting reading。There is the odd flash - a punchy turn of phrase - that reminds you of his synonymous radio show for the Daily Wire - but the first half of the book becomes bogged down with overly lengthy, exhausting phraseology。For anyone familiar with Shapiro, there won't be much new ground here。 It's a fine, restatement of his view on the current predicament facing American politics。 He's carefully sourced and makes a few great points that are relevent in pushing back against the over-reach of the left。He breaks the book down into three, logical step-by-step arguments of what he believes are the causation of the culture wars; American culture, philosophy and history。 He challenges each notion of the 'disintergrationalists' in essay-writing prefectism。 He has a sharp understanding of American history and the founding father's。 He's relatively even handed, considering his firm conservative views。It all amounts to a fairly solid, if unexciting book。 Shapiro is a gifted orator, however his writing leaves something, if not alot, to be desired。 。。。more

Although I disagreed with the author's analysis about what ails current American thought, I feel this book is an important one to gain his perspective 。 It is well written and thoughtful。 Although I disagreed with the author's analysis about what ails current American thought, I feel this book is an important one to gain his perspective 。 It is well written and thoughtful。 。。。more

Informative This book was great。 Why? Because it lays out the facts, the truth, about America。 It teaches you what to look out for that will tear us apart。 It’s a plan, it’s a history and it’s relevant。 Ben has written an important book。

I have few words。 Mainly I guess I'd say I could have done without Shapiro's impersonations of Beto, Bernie, Alexandria, and Obama。 I could have sat through this audiobook with some relative respect in terms of giving the dude his fair shot at compelling me even a millimeter with his arguments。 But sadly he can't help himself and it was an uphill struggle to shovel through the dog feces。If you find yourself here out of irony or some wanting of understanding save yourself the heartache。 I recomme I have few words。 Mainly I guess I'd say I could have done without Shapiro's impersonations of Beto, Bernie, Alexandria, and Obama。 I could have sat through this audiobook with some relative respect in terms of giving the dude his fair shot at compelling me even a millimeter with his arguments。 But sadly he can't help himself and it was an uphill struggle to shovel through the dog feces。If you find yourself here out of irony or some wanting of understanding save yourself the heartache。 I recommend Ezra Klein's "Why We're Polarized" for a genuinely compelling analysis of the state we're in。 。。。more

This is an awesome book that clearly states the difference in the viewpoints of America's political parties today。 If you want to understand what is really going on in our culture and the war that is being fought for the soul of our nation, read this book。 You will come away with some great insight, and sound arguments, about the true history of our nation。 This is a great introduction to the deeper battle that we all need to participate in if we are going to save our great nation。 This is an awesome book that clearly states the difference in the viewpoints of America's political parties today。 If you want to understand what is really going on in our culture and the war that is being fought for the soul of our nation, read this book。 You will come away with some great insight, and sound arguments, about the true history of our nation。 This is a great introduction to the deeper battle that we all need to participate in if we are going to save our great nation。 。。。more

It doesn't matter what your thoughts of Shapiro are。 The topic of this book is so important to today that it's a must read。Shapiro argues that the founding of America was made with good intentions。 He refers to this as the "Unionist" view。 He then counteracts the opposite claims that we all too often see, peddled by those in what he calls the "Disintegrationist" view。 It doesn't matter what your thoughts of Shapiro are。 The topic of this book is so important to today that it's a must read。Shapiro argues that the founding of America was made with good intentions。 He refers to this as the "Unionist" view。 He then counteracts the opposite claims that we all too often see, peddled by those in what he calls the "Disintegrationist" view。 。。。more

My brain is now full。I stayed in college until I was 50。 After reading Ben Shapiro is book, I realized:1。 I was educated beyond my intelligence or 2。 Ben Shapiro is a really smart guy。 It is both。 My brain is now full with word, ideas and additional knowledge that will be a bonus at parties。。。。but most of all I enjoyed the book and learned so much。

“Yes, we are flawed。Yes, we are cruel and generous and brutal and gentle and cynical and idealistic。But most of all, we must not be enemies。We must be Americans - Americans together - and we will be so again, when we are touched by the better angels of our nature。”

this book reads like an elementary school textbook and the content is even worse

I try to read and absorb politics from both perspectives。 I feel a book rating should reflect the quality of the book and not whether or not you agree with one's politics。 This book was well organized and presented。 Very well written。 I try to read and absorb politics from both perspectives。 I feel a book rating should reflect the quality of the book and not whether or not you agree with one's politics。 This book was well organized and presented。 Very well written。 。。。more

This was a much more positive book than I expected with an inspiring conclusion。 There were some chapters that seemed to drone on with repeated information, but it was well connected and easy to follow。 The conclusion was really touching and powerful。

While I was expecting this to be more like a Ben Shapiro podcast that leans heavily right, I felt this was mainly to act as a rebuttal to The 1619 Project。 Shapiro focuses a large section of this book on America's history。Shapiro does not deny the atrocities that have taken place in our country, nor does he suggest that we should attempt to look past them。 Shapiro concludes the book by saying that if we want to repair the rifts in our country, we need to stop silencing one another and come toget While I was expecting this to be more like a Ben Shapiro podcast that leans heavily right, I felt this was mainly to act as a rebuttal to The 1619 Project。 Shapiro focuses a large section of this book on America's history。Shapiro does not deny the atrocities that have taken place in our country, nor does he suggest that we should attempt to look past them。 Shapiro concludes the book by saying that if we want to repair the rifts in our country, we need to stop silencing one another and come together。 We need to talk more and attack less。I loved the concluding quote from the book, that summarizes a lot of what we are as Americans,“Yes, we are flawed。Yes, we are cruel and generous and brutal and gentle and cynical and idealistic。But most of all, we must not be enemies。We must be Americans - Americans together - and we will be so again, when we are touched by the better angels of our nature。”I'm under the belief that people are generally good, and while we have our low points in our history in America, for the most part, this is a nation that has tried it's best to correct our wrongdoings。 That we are Americans first, and every other form of tribe we belong to comes second。Note: I did listen to the audiobook on this one, narrated by the author himself。 One thing I wish he didn't do was impersonate the voices of President Obama and Beto O'Rourke。 It felt like red meat for his podcast listeners。 I think he could have done away with that。 。。。more
